Muhammad – The One Who Is Praised

Muhammad - The One Who Is Praised

Mudhammam مُذَمَّمًا – one who is dispraised.
Muhammad مُحَمَّدٌ – one who is praised.

How fitting is this hadith even in this day and age! This hadith that was stated more than 1400 years ago pertaining to a situation that was happening then suits even in our lifetime now.

Read below to see some of my reflections through this hadith:

  1. Protection from Allah:
The Prophet ﷺ guarantees that he ﷺ is protected by Allah سبحانه و تعالى – protected in honor, protected in reputation, protected from blasphemy, and protected from the lies and falsehood that people spread about him ﷺ.
  2. Consolation to the grieving heart:
SubhanAllah, the Prophet ﷺ consoles his Companions (and us, bi-idhnillah) through this hadith by assuaging our saddened hearts when we hear and see blasphemy and falsehood being spread about him ﷺ.
  3. He is Muhammad ﷺ – the one who is praised:
Alhamdulillah. He is our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ – the one who is praised. The curse and abuse of people who are against him ﷺ, who intend to defame his reputation and character would never be able to do so because all that they do is dispraise and defame, that is, it is directed towards one who is dispraised – Mudhammam.
